Individuals who have worked in Canada for at least one year are eligible to apply for permanent residency under a program called the Canadian Experience Class (CEC), which is an immigration category.

The government of Canada realizes that there is a sizable pool of talented employees already employed in the country, and it desires for these individuals to become permanent residents. These are people and families who have decided to make Canada their permanent home and have begun to make preparations for their future there.

Minimum Requirements for Canadian Experience Class In order to meet the requirements, you must:

  • A minimum of one year of full-time work experience in a skilled craft or industry during the last three years prior to applying for the position.
  • Your previous professional expertise was gained through lawful employment in Canada. The phrase "work experience" refers to: Managerial jobs (skill level 0), Professional jobs (skill type A) and Technical jobs (skill type B)

You should be able to demonstrate that the duties you were responsible for are included in the lead statement of the definition of your occupation that is located in the National Occupational Classification (NOC).
